WHO IS THIS BOOK FOR?

This book will be of interest to anyone interested in details concerning bird distributions in honey mesquite habitats in the lower Colorado River riparian ecosystem. The book reviews, in detail, data gathered and analyzed over a period of several years. These detailed analyses and the methodology used assume that the reader has an interest in statistics and probability as well as a working familiarity with multivariate analyses. A detailed knowledge of birds is not required, but it would be useful. Similarly, familiarity with the area is not necessary, especially at the philosophical level, but it would be helpful at the biological level. It would also be helpful to have knowledge of the trees and shrubs associated with the system under scrutiny. Those interested in emergence theory might find parts of the book of some interest. The intent of the book is to provide detailed documentation for the notion that it is appropriate to combine data from portions of the system that are similar in dominant vegetation as well as in vertical and horizontal structure of the foliage. The editors of the Bulletin of the Revegetation and Wildlife Management Center decided that timeliness in making the material available took precedence over additional literary scrutiny.
